Hand Renewal Treatment (one)

Visit 1 Hand Renewal Treatment with ZO professional products is a mild peel to restore hydration, soften dry, rough texture and prevent future damage and signs of ageing to the hands. Visit 2 SKINVIVE is treatment for the hands lasting up to 9 months to deeply hydrate and rejuvenate your hands and skin, a treatment designed to improve skin texture, firmness, and luminosity. By infusing hyaluronic acid and essential nutrients beneath the skin’s surface, it restores a healthy, youthful glow from within. Skinvive by Juvéderm is an injectable treatment made of hyaluronic acid that improves skin hydration and smoothness from the inside out. Unlike traditional fillers that add volume, Skinvive is a "skin booster" that delivers microdroplets of hyaluronic acid into the skin to improve texture and provide a "lit-from-within" glow. The results can last for up to six months improving texture and up to 9 months of skin hydration.

About Hand Rejuvenation

Hand rejuvenation focuses on the backs of the hands, an area that often shows visible signs of ageing earlier than we expect. Over time the skin here can become thinner, drier and less plump, and underlying volume loss can make tendons and veins appear more prominent. At our Loughborough clinic, hand rejuvenation is carried out by a registered nurse prescriber and always begins with a face-to-face consultation, so any treatment is matched to your skin and your goals.

What hand rejuvenation can help with

Hands are frequently on show, yet they can be easy to overlook in a skincare routine. Hand rejuvenation aims to support the appearance of the skin on the back of the hands, and many people find it helpful for concerns such as:

  • A crepey or papery skin texture
  • Dryness and a dull, tired-looking appearance
  • Loss of plumpness or volume across the back of the hand
  • A wish for smoother, more hydrated-looking skin

Results are typically temporary, and the degree of change varies from person to person. Your nurse prescriber can give you a realistic idea of what may be achievable during your consultation.

How it works

Hand rejuvenation usually works by improving skin hydration and quality, and in some cases by helping to restore a sense of fullness to the area. Treatments such as skin boosters deliver hydrating ingredients into the skin, which can help it look smoother and more refreshed. Because the hands are used constantly, results are not permanent and are usually maintained with occasional top-up sessions over time.

Treatment options

Following your consultation, your nurse prescriber may discuss options including:

  • Hand Renewal Treatment (single session): a standalone treatment focused on refreshing the appearance of the back of the hands.
  • Hand Renewal course of three: a short course of three sessions, which some people prefer for a more gradual, built-up approach.
  • Skinvive for hands (2ml): a skin booster used to support hydration and skin quality across the hands.
  • Skinvive skin booster for hands (3ml): a larger volume option, which may suit those wanting to treat a broader area.

The most suitable option, and whether a single session or a short course is appropriate, is decided together at your consultation rather than in advance.

Your consultation and what to expect

Every treatment starts with a face-to-face consultation with a registered nurse prescriber. This is a chance to talk through your concerns, review your medical history and ask questions. Your nurse will assess your hands, explain what a treatment can and cannot do, and outline any risks or side effects so you can make an informed decision. If treatment goes ahead, it is typically a short appointment. You may notice some temporary redness, tenderness or small raised areas at the injection points, which usually settle within a few days.

Is it right for me?

Hand rejuvenation may suit you if you feel the skin on your hands looks dry, crepey or less plump than you would like. It is not suitable for everyone, and your nurse prescriber will let you know if it is not appropriate for you, for example based on your health, medications or the concerns you describe. The honest answer for many people only becomes clear at consultation, which is why we always assess your hands in person first.

Aftercare

Your nurse will give you personalised aftercare advice on the day. General guidance often includes:

  • Keeping the area clean and avoiding heavy handwashing or scrubbing for the first day or so
  • Avoiding vigorous exercise, saunas and very hot water for the first 24 hours
  • Applying a gentle moisturiser and sun protection as advised
  • Contacting the clinic if you have any concerns after your treatment
