How dermal fillers work
Most of the fillers we use are based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and helps it hold moisture and volume. When placed with care, filler adds gentle support beneath the skin to replace lost volume, smooth a crease or subtly reshape an area. One reassuring feature of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they can usually be dissolved if needed, which gives both you and your nurse prescriber more flexibility. Results are not permanent: fillers are gradually broken down by the body, so treatment is typically topped up over time rather than being a single fix.
Treatment areas and options
We offer a broad range of filler options, each tailored during consultation:
- Lips: lip filler and Juvederm lip filler for volume, hydration or gentle definition.
- Peri-oral and smokers lines: softening the fine vertical lines around the mouth.
- Cheeks: cheek filler in 1ml and 2ml options to restore volume and contour.
- Tear trough: treatment aimed at the hollowing and shadowing under the eyes.
- Nasolabial folds and marionette lines: softening the folds from nose to mouth and the lines towards the chin.
- Chin and mental crease: adding balance and definition to the lower face.
- Jawline: JW1, JW2, JW4 and JW5 options to suit different levels of contouring, plus jowl support.
- Temples: restoring volume to hollowing at the temples.
- Non-surgical rhinoplasty: refining the appearance of the nose without surgery.
- Filler dissolving and review: dermal filler reversal to dissolve unwanted or previous filler, and a dermal filler review to assess existing work.
Your consultation and what to expect
Your first appointment is a proper consultation with a registered nurse prescriber. We will discuss your goals, review your medical history and assess your face as a whole rather than treating one area in isolation. If treatment is suitable and you are happy to go ahead, we will explain the plan, the likely number of sessions and what results you might reasonably expect. Many people find the treatment itself quick and well tolerated, and we take time to keep you comfortable throughout. There is no obligation to proceed on the day.
Is it right for me?
Dermal fillers are not right for everyone, and part of our job is to tell you honestly if we think another approach would suit you better. Fillers may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions or active skin infections in the area, or have had a previous reaction to filler. Because every face and every set of goals is different, suitability is always assessed individually at your consultation. If we do not think a treatment is right for you, we will say so.
