Anti-wrinkle injections, often known by the brand name Botox, are one of the most popular treatments at our Loughborough clinic. They use a purified form of botulinum toxin to relax specific facial muscles, which can soften the appearance of expression lines and give a refreshed, natural-looking result. Every treatment is carried out by a registered nurse prescriber after a face-to-face consultation, so your plan is tailored to your face rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
What anti-wrinkle injections can help with
Anti-wrinkle injections are most commonly used to soften the lines that form through everyday expressions, including:
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Forehead lines
- Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
The same technique can also be used for a range of more advanced and therapeutic concerns. Cosmetic options include a subtle brow lift, a "lip flip", softening a gummy smile, and smoothing a dimpled chin. We also offer treatments where botulinum toxin is used for medical rather than purely cosmetic reasons, including jaw slimming and teeth grinding (masseter), excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis), neck and décolletage lines, and tension across the shoulders and neck (sometimes called "trap tox"). During your consultation we will talk through which areas are appropriate for you.
How the treatment works
Botulinum toxin works by temporarily reducing the signals between the nerves and the small muscles responsible for repeated expressions. When those muscles relax, the skin over them tends to look smoother and the lines usually appear softer. The effect is gradual rather than instant: most people begin to notice a difference within a few days, with the fuller result developing over about one to two weeks. Results are temporary and typically last in the region of three to four months, though this varies from person to person.
Treatment areas and options
We offer anti-wrinkle treatment across a wide range of areas, from a single area up to several areas in one appointment, alongside the advanced and therapeutic options above. Because everyone's muscle strength and goals are different, the right areas and dosing are agreed with your nurse prescriber at consultation rather than booked blind. You can browse the individual options and current pricing below, or add any that interest you to your wishlist so we can discuss them together.
Your consultation and what to expect
Every anti-wrinkle treatment begins with a face-to-face consultation. This is where we assess your facial anatomy, talk through your goals and medical history, and check that the treatment is suitable for you. The injections themselves are quick, using very fine needles, and most people describe only a brief scratch. There is usually little to no downtime, and many people return to their day straight afterwards while following the aftercare advice below.
Is it right for me?
Anti-wrinkle injections suit many people who want to soften the look of expression lines while keeping natural movement. Suitability is always confirmed at consultation, and the treatment is not appropriate for everyone: as an example, it is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or alongside certain medical conditions. If it is not the right option for you, we will say so and talk through the alternatives.
